Five and Dime has been around roughly 6 months or so and is brought to you by the people of Five Boroughs and Phoenician Falafel. This is the same site on which the Phoenician Cuisine use to be.
What is so interesting about this place is the interesting Lebanese influenced dishes. The decor is modern contemporary and clean.
We were informed that the dishes were all relatively substantial however I thought some of them were fairly lighter than others such as the Asparagus dish we had ordered.
Their beverage list was interesting and was tempted to ordering a glass or something, but unfortunately their bar tender had not yet arrived.
Venison Tartar, Beetroot, Blackberries, Black Garlic Wafer – was beautifully presented, I personally found the tartar to be lacking seasoning, other than that it was a good dish
Asparagus, Zucchini, Smoked labneh, Parmesan, Pine, Promogrante was delicious. I just wanted a bit more of the smoked labneh to go with my shaved zucchini. Good refreshing light dish.
Beef Kafta, Lamb & Chicken Skewers, Baba Ganoush, Fatoush salad, pomegrante, charred pita – was a good sized dish if you are after something that would fill you up. The baba ganoush had a deep smokey flavour. The skewers were much tastier than I had anticipated. I am unsure whether they were cooked to order as our skewers were not as hot as I was hoping for. My favourite would have to be the beef kofters, nicely seasoned
I was surprised that there was no one else dining here, which made it even better, as we could have the whole restaurant ourselves. I think is this a good little hidden gem which many people have yet to catch on.
