There are a few cafe in Auckland that I have yet to try and Geeks on Sainbury is one of them. Seen my mum and I were in the St Lukes area looking at some small appliances, I had worked up an appetite and decided to see what cafes were around and on the radar was Geeks on Sainsbury which were just round the corner.
We arrived to a cafe which had opened up its doors and windows to the beautiful warm summers day, boasting a good indoor and outdoor flow. There were a small handful of people dining here. To be honest I was expecting a little more of a crowd but that did not bother us, as it meant that service would be faster and we could sit anywhere we wanted to, without it being to loud.
Mum was not hungry, so I ordered something for myself.
Long Black – Coffee beans here are by Red Rabbit, which is a local Wellington coffee roaster. Coffee was good but slightly to hot for my liking.
Quinoa Salad – Roasted Lemon Chicken w White and Red Quinoa, Roasted Vine tomatoes, rocket, Green Beans, Feta and Pumpkin – My first observation was that there were no feta, though the dish did look appealing. I found that the dish was not very substantial as it could be. Perhaps a couple more spoonfuls of quinoa could have done it.
Good airy cafe, though I must admit the majority of the patronage here were of Asian descent. Of which one of the patrons who decided to bump her chair hard against my babies capsule causing my baby to wake up. And that person did not even bother saying sorry.
There is a good variety of food on the menu. Staff are very friendly. Would I return again? Perhaps, if I was in the area.
