Plateau

www.misopeckish.comPlateau has a stylish pub/restaurant, with a casual meet and greet area, a courtyard for outside dining and drinks, and a private dining room for group bookings which is also ideal for children.  Plateau have seven New Zealand Craft Beers on tap, produced by the Monteiths Brewing Co.  and Serves up some delicious food – lets just say food that is more fancy than your average pub food.

We came for lunch and ordered a dish each.

Monteith’s Black Beef Cheek Pie, slow braised beef cheek, puff pastry was delicious.. generally you would expect a pot pie with a pastry topping.   This pie was done the proper way.  where it was actually a pie where the light flaky puff pastry encasing the delicious braised beef cheek.  There was certainly a good amount of beef through the pie with little gravy. which was nice, as sometimes you get pies with little meat an a lot of gravey as the filler.

Roulade of Shredded Lamb, wrapped in prosciutto, Israeli couscous, 
broad beans, almonds, yoghurt – he sauce was very rich, sweet and salty which was alright for my first two bites, but then it got a bit too overwhelming. whhere I tried to hand off most of it to Mr Wasabi.   the lamb it self was delicious and was neatly wrapped in prosecutto and baked.  The couscous had a semi sticky texture to it. which was ok but did not really enjoy it.   This dish was fairly heavy and needed something slightly refreshing to balance the dish

Twisty Fries w Citrus Salt – These were basically curly fries.. I now understand why Mr Wasabi like these fries.  Curly fries are slightly more chewier as it as a lot more surface area than your normal hand cut fries.   These were served with a side of aoili and tomato sauce.
