Burger Burger

www.misopeckish.comI have heard Burger Burger is one of the better burger joints in Auckland.  Having  had this place on my go to list for some time and never had the opportunity to go, I thought I would make an effort this time around.

The first Burger Burger joint opened up in Ponsonby Central, which had been so successful that they have recently opened up in a new location in New Market.   We opted to go the New Market branch as I knew there would be more available parking than around New Market.

We arrived around lunch time to a packed out restaurant, but managed to get a small table within a few minutes, as a couple was about to leave.

The atmosphere is very up beat and busy with the young friendly staff, strutting their stuff ensuring the orders are delivered in a timely manner.   Burger Burger is a licence premises serving a selection alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages and a selection of mouth watering desserts.

Potato Skins w Truffle Aoili – are cooked to order to ensure freshness.   A good amount of truffle oil used to give the potato a nice flavour to it.

Beef Burger – Mr Wasabi ordered his beef burger to be rare and it certainly came rare (where the patty was still pink in the middle), the patty came nicely charred with a hint of caramelisation, and a slice of aged melted cheddar, homemade pickles, tomato jam, mustard, mayo

Fish Burger – fish of the day was Gurnard, one of my favourite fish and it is rare that I find gurnard being used in a burger, so i took the liberty to try one.  it came with some rocket but manage to omit it out leaving Caper Dill Mayo, Tomato Jam,, Fresh squeeze of lemon.   The fish was deep fried which gave the burger a nice crunchy texture.  Served on a soft brioche bun.

The milkshakes here are so decadent partly due to the fact that they use Kohi Road ice cream in their shakes.

Chocolate Milkshake – good amount of ice cream to make it thick but not overly thick with delicious sweet chocolate sauce drizzle around the cup of the milk shake.  Mr Wasabi who is not a huge fan of milkshakes thought it was quite delicious and drank half of my shake.  I ended giving him the evils as he stated he did not want any.

Raspberry Thickshake – I was so impressed with the chocolate shake that I had to return again to get a raspberry thickshake to take away.  The shake was ever so slightly thicker than the milk shake. with raspberry sauce drizzled throughout the cup.  Decadent rich but not overly sweet.   I had ordered this for myself assuming Mr Wasabi would only take a few mouthful and before I knew it as we were shopping around 3/4 of my shake had disappeared.

Service here is excellent where our waitress knew exactly the reasons why I was asking specific questions about certain ingredients.   Even though the burgers and fries are made to order, food came out fairly quickly which was a plus for Mr Wasabi and I as we did have much time to hang around due to other commitments we had.

There are certainly other items on the menu in which I would like to try such as the milk shakes, which looked absolutely delicious and other flavoured burgers.
