Mexico Revisited

www.misopeckish.comThe last time I was here was when Mexico had recently opened, where we were haggling to get a table.  Now a few months on a lot of things have been ironed out, such as you can now dine at the bar, you can easily get a seat without a large queue and you do not get the hassle of staff constantly asking you whether you are ok every 5 seconds.

Dining here with my friend E where we both had some dietary requirements, the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

We ordered a couple of dishes to share and a taco each.

Chef Special Taco – BBQ Pork Belly, lots of chunky pork belly was very tender and good flavours.

Beef Arrachera w Roast Papas, Salsa Asada, Crisp Shallot, Soft Herbs Taco  – Some bits of the beef in the taco was slightly chewy rather than it being tender.  the small diced roast potatoes  gave the taco a bit of a crunch and chewiness to it.

Albondigas: Poached Pork & Prawn Meatballs w Salsa Verde, Soft Polenta was soft and succulent.  I found it was hard to scoop up some of the polenta with the meatball as it kept slipping off.  Ended up scooping the polenta with a fork and putting it on my meatball.

Quesadillas w smoky eggplant w walnut, agave, oregano and tomato salsa (v) is definitely a sharing plate, I do not think one person can actually finish the quesadilla off by themselves, unless they are really hungry.
