I walk past Felix at least once a week but never really bothered making an effort to visit for some unknown reason, so I decided to drop by on my way to work one early morning.
I popped in around 9am, Felix was not as busy as other cafes which I had walked past such as Midnight Espresso and Floridata’s.
the menu is a mix of of normal brunch flair of your usual eggs with a slant towards some Mexican/Spanish inspired items such as quesidillas, Mexican eggs, Burrito, Huevos Rancheros, Spanish Spiced Chicken etc.
I was tempted to order the quesidilla, but opted not to as that seemed to early for something so heavy.
Long Black – Coffee beans by Laffare – a local Wellington coffee roaster. The coffee is nicely brewed that was not too hot nor too bitter.
Sweet Corn Fritters – 3 fairly flat fritters with lots of corn and very little batter, which was good. the accompany lettuce was very very limp. Definitely was not fresh at all. The tomato salsa had very little flavours to it which was a bit disappointed. Quite a simple dish which failed to ge my attention. I ended up eating 1 of the 3 fritters before I gave up.
An ok cafe, how ever I would like to try some of their Mexican inspired dishes next time, though I will not be running back any time in the next few weeks.
