Feliz Pollo (aka Happy Chicken), was the nearest restaurant we saw on the way back from Palenque to our hotel in Villahermosa. Mr Wasabi was famished, but I was not interested in eating so we headed off to Feliz Pollo thinking it was a burger joint. It was not a burger joint but something similar to Nandos back home in New Zealand, offering rotisserie chicken where you can order the chicken by the half or whole amongst some other grilled meat items.
As we approached the restaurant we thought it was closed as I could not see any lights turn on inside. It was actually opened, I think they trying to conserve power. It was just light enough to see what we were ordering and eating.
Feliz Pollo offers a selection of tables and booth style seating. There were only two other groups dining when we arrived. We decided to take one of the more comfy looking booths.
Mr Wasabi proceeded to order Half a Chicken meal which came with a number of warm soft tacos, grilled onions, grilled cactus leaves and tomato salsa.
The chicken was succulent and tender which made a great meal when you added it to a taco. As it had been fairly hot all day, I was not feeling very hungry but managed to get a tasting of everything.
Great quick stop for those of you wanting something to eat after a long day at the Palenque ruins. As we left a bus load of locals had just arrived. We were glad we had just finished otherwise we could be waiting a a while for our meals.
