There are a few places that you have to eat when in Queenstown. First is Ferg Burgers and the next is Pies and slices at Ferg Baker. You guessed it, they are both related to each other and there is no excuses that you did not have time to visit Ferg Baker, as it is located right next door to Ferg Burgers. We have visited Ferg Baker previously also ordering a pie and a sweet slice to take away.
The selection of freshly baked breads, cakes and slices are mouth watering.
Beef and Cheese Pie – I ordered this pie as Mr Wasabi said this was only pie that he was going to help me eat. This is certainly not my first choice in pie flavour as there are other flavours that I would much rather choose that is not readily available elsewhere.
The pastry is flaky yet crispy and the pie filling made of succulent tender beef with just enough gravy to coat the meat without overdoing it, and melted cheese was delicious, rich and perfectly seasoned. AT $6.50 the pie is not the cheapest but is definitely value for money.
Lemon Meringue Pie – Thin pastry casing that was not too hard to break with a plastic sppon or fork filled with a nice tart, sweet but zingy lemon curd then topped with a nice meringue.
Not the cheapest of bakeries but definitely cheaper than eating similar things at a cafe. Serving sizes of the slices are fairly large and for its price, makes it value for money.
