Who could ever say ‘no’ to cheap and cheerful authentic Chinese food. No I am not talking about your 3 or 5 choice selection of orange beef, sweet and sour pork, deep fried wontons and fried rice or chow mein. I am talking about the real deal of Northern Chinese food of lamb and cumin, dumplings etc.
Seaweed with Garlic – this is a cold salad dish which I love and makes a good entree. Even though with Chinese food, you just want everything to come all at once, so you can nit pick the dishes as you please. You get quite a lot for $4.50. The garlic balanced well with the seaweed.
Chinese Lamb Burger – the burger bun was much thicker and fairly dense and chewy than I am use to. Large thick slices of lamb which did not have much flavour and had a good bite to them aka chewy. I have never had a Chinese burger with lettuce before, which is a first. Did not appreciate it that much. Very average burger to say the least and at $6.50, was fairy expensive.
Pork and Leek Dumplings – Pastry is very thick in which I took a small bite to open it up and slurp out the filling. the filling itself was nicely seasoned.
Cumin Lamb with Steamed Buns – very tender strips of lamb that is cooked with onions and coriander providing a nice fragrant smell and flavour. The colouring of the steamed buns yellow, when generally comes from the type of flour that is used. They were fairly dense and when they got cold, they became fairly hard, making them unpleasant to eat.
Good cheap authentic Chinese food. But do not expect good service here. Food is tasty and at reasonable prices.
