There are a small number of regional Koru Lounges in New Zealand and it just so happens Tauranga airport has one of these. Tauranga airport services direct flights to Auckland and Wellington with infrequent flights to Christchurch.
Most of the regional lounges are unmanned, where you are required to scan your boarding pass on a machine that sits just in front of the door which gives you the code to use to enter into the lounge.
All regional Koru lounges have the same fit out with slightly different layouts, with a good selection of seating from communal tables to comfy chairs are available.
The lounge is clean and quiet with views overlooking the runway. We arrived to an empty lounge which I was taken back, as we had arrived 10 minutes prior to our departure. I guess either not many people know about it or they wanted to spend the last few moments with their loved ones.
The lounge offers a small selection of foods. This morning soup, sweet slices, muffins and fresh fruit were on offer.
A good selection of beverages which included soft drink, juice, tea and coffee were available. There is a beer and wine fridge, but that was locked. I am assuming this would be available later in the day.
Good little lounge to grab a quick bite to eat or check those emails before your flight.
