Crepes A Go Go

www.misopeckish.comSome of you may have walked past this little hole in the wall on Manners Street without stopping and trying Crepes A Go Go or you may have heard of a the newly opened crepery in Ponsonby Central in Auckland.  Other Crepes A Go Go locations includes Lower Hutt, the City Market in Wellington and the Farmers Market in Britomart Auckland.

Crepes A Go Go was first established in Wellington which have been popular with the young and old serving authentic French sweet and savoury crepes to take away.   Even the staff here are French, so could you have asked for more?

One of the downside to Crepes A Go Go is that there is no seating.  All the crepes are to take away, which can be off putting for some who do not like to walk and eat.

What I did not know previously is that buckwheat crepes which has no sugar and is used for savoury crepes, while the egg crepe is for sweet crepes as it contains sugar.

I was going to get the classic Lemon and Sugar but was overruled by Plus 1 who saw a sweet crepe with cherries and push me aside to order the White Forest Crepe.

White Forest w White chocolate and Cherries – Plus 1 made a slight alteration to the crepe by changing the white chocolate to dark chocolate.  I decided to go slightly healthy and use buckwheat crepe instead of the normal egg batter crepe.

I must admit this crepe was delicious with lots of morello cherries..   the outside of the crepe was nice and crispy as you get further into the centre the crepe became soft with lots of chocolate oozing out.  We were eating like we were kids with the chocolate sauce smothered all over our mouths.

Paris Forever – Ham and Cheese Crepe made with buckwheat batter.   This was the second attempt at which this crepe was made as the first attempt ended on the floor *oops* as the staff was trying to transfer the crepe from the pan to the plate.

Cheese was nicely melted with 3 slices of shaved ham.   We were asked if we wanted salt and pepper which we both nodded ‘yes’.   The crepe was beautifully presented with the sides folded over for form a square and cut into quarters which allow us to share it more easily.

Crepes A Go Go is a great little place if you are wanting something quick and on the go.   The staff were happy to change the fillings around without an additional cost.

Did your plus 1 really push you? I hope he wasn’t too hard. It must have been worth it for such a yummy sounding crepe.
