Stalactites

www.misopeckish.comStalactites is one of a few places in Melbourne that is open 24/7 providing delicious Greek food to the public at reasonably prices, which proves to be the perfect place to grab a bite to eat for those having a boozy night.

We have been here several times since we first stumbled upon this place.   During peak meal hours, expect to find a queue snaking outside, but do not let that deter you from trying this place out, as the queue moves pretty fast.

As the name suggests, the ceiling is moulded with Stalactites which I had not realised until we were about to leave.  The restaurant can get a little noisy when everyone is having their own conversation but hey, have you heard of quiet Greeks?

Mixed Dips – arama, melitzanosalata, tzatziki & hommus.  Good selection of dips for your pita bread of which all are made daily on site. The dips are separated by a slice of cucumber.

Pita Bread – The pita breads need to be ordered separately to the dips.  These come out warm and soft.  Once you start eating them, you can not stop.  So be warned, do not eat too much before you mains come or else you will not have enough room for your main.

Meat Platter Platter of marinated lamb fillet skewers, lamb giro from the spit, chicken giro from the spit, lamb cutlets, hot sausages and homemade Greek rissoles.  Good selection of meats which were cooked to perfection, succulent and full of flavour.  My favorites were the giros.  nice thin slices and tender.

Delicious Greek food at reasonable prices and the fact that they are open 24/7.   If you are feeling a little peckish at anytime of the day, you can be sure to rely on Stalactites serving you good Greek food.  If you are after an intimate place, I suggest you go else where as  this is a classic noisy Greek restaurant serving great Greek food.
