Late Sunday afternoon I found myself strolling the streets of Ponsonby looking for a cafe to visit for a coffee. We decided to pop into Dizengoff as that was the closest cafe to where we were and the fact we have not been here before, so we thought we should give it a try.
The cafe itself is larger than what you see from the street as there is more seating upstairs. Dizengoff offers your usual brunch items with a slight Middle Eastern theme to it.
There is a good selection of both sweet and savoury counterfood items. The cafe was fairly packed downstiars where we struggled to find a table, but managed to find one outside which was more ideal as I found the cafe a bit stuffy.
I took the liberty in ordering two coffees and a Passtionfruit cake cake to share.
Coffee – Beans used is by Allpress a local Auckland coffee roster. Long Macchiato – came with a small jug of hot water where you can top up your coffee with more eater if you wished.
Flat White – nicely made, velvety and at the right temperature – very enjoyable coffee.
Passionfruit Cake – slightly tart and sweet at the same time. The cake itself was light and airy with a the right amount of passionfruit flavour that gives you that hit when you eat a passionfruit.
Will definitely come back to try some of their food off the menu. The service is friendly and welcoming. Sitting outside you do not get the attentive service as you would if you were sitting inside
