Ho Hung Kee

www.misopeckish.comHaving consumed a large earlier earlier in the day, we decided to go for something light and close.  Ho Hung Kee recently moved to new premises in the new Hysan shopping mall, where the environment is more cleaner and modern.

They decor is very clean, modern and a tad bit cramped.  I personally thought the decor did not suit a wonton noodle shop, perhaps this was brought on by their new Michelin Star status.

Service was sporadic to say the least.  The waiter would recommend some items and then later advises that they were all sold out.  I would have expected the waiter to know what dishes were sold out.

Wonton Noodles – contained 6 wontons, the wontons itself was delicious, well seasoned and good amounts of prawns.  the egg noodles were cooked til al dente.  The broth itself was tasty with flounder and shrimp roe flavour

Beef Stir Fried Noodles –  we ordered this dish as everyone around us ordered, which was  one of their signature dishes.  I found this dish to be exceptionally oily and lacking flavour in contrasts to the wonderful wonton noodles.  I had to add soy sauce to give the stir fried noodles more flavour

Seasonal Vegetables – the seasonal vegetables were Choy Sum.  When the dish arrived, it was the wrong dish.

I had informed the waiter of this mistake, the dish was taken back and the correct dish came out which was seasonal vegetables in soup.  I suspect they used the same vegetables and put it in a bowl of soup.  The soup was extremely oily, which I would have expected from a Michelin Star restaurant to skim off the excess fat that was floating on the top.

Service was substandard and had expected more for the price we were paying.  When we were ready to leave I had asked for the bill several times before it actually came.
