Milse

IMG_7087When I first heard about Milse, a restaurant dedicated to fine dining dessert I thought I was in heaven.  Milse serves dessert degustation menus and à la carte indulgences which can also be taken away.

Milse is located in the Briotmart precinct tucked away in a small alleyway.  The restaurant is a tight squeeze with a handful of tables

When you first walk you would think it is a take away dessert shop,  as cabinets line the entrance way with handmade chocolates, macaroons and gelato cakes.  There are a few tables hidden around the corner inside.

When we arrived there was a 40 minute wait time for a table, we decided to wait as we had all the time in the world.  They took our phone number and told use they would give us a call when a table was free.    We decided to walk around Britomat to look what other restaurants and shops were around.   It was only a mere 10 minutes before I received a phone call telling us a table had come free.

We sat down at the bar overlooking the pastry chef applying their trade.  One chef was making macarons, another was garnishing some tarts, another chef was out back measuring some ingredients for some other dessert.

We ordered  a Black Forest, Kirsch, Cherry & Chocolate VerriNes, an absolute devine with the mix of cheery and chocolate.

Bombe alaska with berry gelato – a great dessert.  Thoroughly enjoyed the ice cold berry gelato within the bombe Alaska.

Chocolate, Cherry & Kirsch tart was also good.   We did not need the third dessert, but it was too tempting to pass up the opportunity.

All the desserts were amazing, and will definitely be back to try other intoxicating items.

Milse also does larger cakes to order for those special occasions.

Total bill came to $35 for three desserts two coffees and a macaroon to take away.

 

I have since been back for take away dessert.  The desserts are well packaged in boxes or jars.

Prune, Armagnac, Chocolate & Pecan could not complain the lack of peacan nuts.  There was more than enough on the dessert.IMG_7548

Apple crumble tart with mascapone was simply delicious.  Milse has definitely put a twist on the humble apple crumble by turning it into a tart.
